Mr Amjad obtained his medical degree (MBBS) from Rawalpindi Medical College (University of Health Sciences) Pakistan in 2005, followed by a Foundation Training in North West Foundation School, England and Surgical Rotation in Mersey Deanery. He completed his run-through Ophthalmology training in the popular Yorkshire Deanery, culminating in an 18-month Advanced Subspecialty Training in Vitreo-retinal Surgery at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals, NHS Trust, UK.
He gained further subspecialty Fellowship in managing Medical Retina & Vireo-retina diseases at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, followed by a Paediatric Vitreo-retina Fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), where he trained in managing complex paediatric cataract and retinal pathologies. He trained in managing ROP detachment with endoscopic lens sparing vitrectomy, joining a handful of elite surgeons performing this procedure. Post fellowship, he continued operating retinal pathologies independently at the GOSH.
He is currently working as a consultant ophthalmologist at & Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Calderdale & Huddersfield Hospitals NHS Trust, UK, where he manages paediatric and adult complex cataracts and retinal pathologies.
